YouTube, one of the most visited and searched sites in Israel, is starting this month to let all users attach images and animated GIFs to comments under videos. According to an update to YouTube's developer API, which added a new field for comment image URLs, the feature reaches all users in November 2026. It was first shown at the Made on YouTube event in September.

According to reports, the GIFs come from a built-in library and for now work only in the mobile app. The rollout is gradual and not limited to Premium subscribers, so some users already see the option and others do not. Early reactions are cool: many on Reddit complained that GIFs will clutter comment sections already full of bots, and some are looking for ways to block them. Some expect YouTube to add an option to hide them.

Creators got new tools this year too, mostly AI-based. In the YouTube Studio app the company launched a tool that reviews a video before publishing and suggests improvements to pacing, structure and storytelling. Another generates three thumbnails and shows each to a different group of viewers to see which draws more views. YouTube is also expanding Ask YouTube, its conversational search, into shopping.

The changes show YouTube's direction in 2026: more AI, more interaction and more commerce. For users in Israel most changes will arrive gradually. If you do not see the GIF option yet, update the app and check again later this month.
