Google added a capability to the Gemini app that makes it a real work tool: creating and editing files directly inside the chat. According to Google's blog, users can generate, preview and edit documents, PDFs, presentations, spreadsheets, text files and code without switching to another app.
How it works
You can open the file full screen and type changes directly, highlight a passage and ask about it, or ask Gemini to improve the file. The feature is available to all users, from free personal accounts to Google Workspace customers, in all languages where Gemini is available.
The limits
On the Android and iOS apps, only PDFs can be edited for now. Editing documents, spreadsheets, presentations and code requires the web version. According to one report, there is no direct PowerPoint export yet, and presentations go through Google Slides.
What it means for you
For users in Israel, it is a simple way to edit a PDF, a task that usually requires paid software, or to draft a document quickly. As always with AI, check the result before sending it, and think about privacy before uploading sensitive documents, such as medical or financial ones, to a chat.
