On October 7 OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 to all ChatGPT users worldwide. The new generation of models was already running on a limited basis for enterprise customers, but this is the first time it has reached the general public. Alongside the model, the company launched a feature that is less about what the model knows and more about how it presents it: an interface called Intelligent UI.

Three models, different users

The GPT-6 family is split into several models by need and subscription tier. According to reports, Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise subscribers get GPT-6 Sol. Users on the free and cheaper tiers, Free and Go, get GPT-6 Luna, a lighter and faster version. A third model, GPT-6 Astra, launched in September for a small group of organizations, and according to some sources it still powers the advanced reasoning option in the Pro tier. Sources differ slightly on dates, for example whether Luna reached free users on launch day or the day after.

What Intelligent UI is

The headline feature is that a ChatGPT answer no longer has to be text only. According to OpenAI, the system can embed interactive components in an answer: a calculator you can type numbers into, a visualization, even a small game, depending on what suits the question. Someone asking to calculate a mortgage payment, for example, might get a tool they can adjust instead of a paragraph with a formula. According to reports, ChatGPT can also start showing an answer before its reasoning has finished, to cut waiting time.

It is the direction every AI giant is trying to take: turning chat from a text box into a workspace. The idea is that users should not have to phrase the perfect request or copy results into another app. The model builds the right tool for the question, inside the conversation.

Why skepticism is in order

As with any big launch, much of the information comes from the company itself. Benchmarks published by the model's developer need independent testing before they can be trusted. An impressive interface does not guarantee a correct answer either. An interactive calculator built on a wrong assumption can be even more persuasive than wrong text, precisely because it looks like a professional tool.

There is a business question too: the gap between Sol and Luna effectively creates two different experiences of the same product. Free users may get shallower answers without always knowing that is the difference.

What it means for users in Israel

For people who use ChatGPT every day, the meaningful change is probably the interface more than the model. It is worth testing the interactive components on real tasks, such as calculations, planning and data analysis, and continuing to verify any number a decision depends on. For organizations, the launch is another reminder that these products change fast, and that usage policies written six months ago may already be out of date.
